Against overwhelming odds, poverty, weak health systems and inequities; Abum and Yemisi embark on a perilous journey of surgery, chemotherapy, stigma and self-discovery. With each twist and turn, their resolve strengthens, inspiring those around them with their unwavering faith and unshakeable courage. Will they defy the odds and emerge victorious, or will the pains of colorectal cancer consume them? This gripping tale of hope, resilience, health inequities and the human spirit will leave you breathless and inspired. Synopsis: The Champions is a real-life story of three African women who had breast cancer – Mama Nnenne was diagnosed with early breast cancer and she survived, while Comfort was diagnosed with HER2 positive stage II breast cancer, painfully she could not raise the N15m that she needed for her treatment on time; her breast cancer progressed from stage II to stage IV, the breast cancer progressed from her breast to her lungs and later to her brain. Gift was diagnosed with breast cancer and at the same time was pregnant too, she needed to choose between her pregnancy, her breast cancer invasive treatment or her own life.
This is the powerful story of the battle of cancer in Africa.
