Project PINK BLUE PARTNERS WITH JUMIA FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Jumia, Nigeria’s leading online store has partnered with cancer awareness organisation, Project Pink Blue to commemorate this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The partnership kicks off during the annual Walk, Race & Cycle Against Cancer event taking place on Saturday October 8th in Lagos, Nigeria.

With this collaboration, Jumia Nigeria reinforces the importance of early cancer detection and screenings for at-risk-women and support to women living with advanced-stage breast cancer.

This year’s Walk, Race & Cyle Against Cancer kicks off at 7am at the Radio Lagos/LTV Compound, Lateef Jakande Road, Ikeja. It consists of a 10km walk, 20km race and a 30km cycle route.

At least 2000 women will have access to free cervical cancer screenings and free breast examinations. This includes 500 free breast examination kits, 50 free ultrasounds and free cervical lesion treatments.

In addition to a cash donation to Project Pink Blue, Jumia will spearhead an awareness campaign to raise up to N1,000,000 via its mobile platforms.

According to Simone Bartlett, Head of Marketing, Jumia Nigeria: “Our ultimate goal in Jumia is to expand horizons, and this isn’t limited just to the e-commerce ecosystem. It extends to the general well-being and standard of living of our customers and stakeholders. To this end, we are proud to be associated with Project Pink Blue and their commitment to providing resources for early cancer detection in Nigeria.”

Earlier in the month, on October 1, 2016, Jumia unveiled an initiative to support locally manufactured and assembled products. Known as Jumia Local, the platform invests in the best Nigerian brands and makes their products available to millions of website visitors at 0% commission for the first six months.
